Dali Exhibit

The Philadelphia Museum of Art presented the only American venue of the major centennial retrospective exhibition devoted to Salvador Dalí (1904-1989. On view is a vast array of Dalí’s highly influential Surrealist paintings, as well as his early Cubist-inspired works and later experiments with optical illusions and perspective, as in Still Life - Fast Moving of 1956.
The exhibit was a maze of people and paintings. You couldn't move without bumping into someone or get caught in the tranquil grasp of REAL surreal art.

Quote of the day

"I will not carry a gun, Frank. When I got thrown into this war I had a clear understanding with the Pentagon: no guns. I'll carry your books, I'll carry a torch, I'll carry a tune, I'll carry on, carry over, carry forward, Cary Grant, cash and carry, carry me back to Old Virginia, I'll even 'hari-kari' if you show me how, but I will not carry a gun!"

Medical Relief Aid

“Do all you can with what you have, in the time you have, in the place you are.” Nkosi Johnson, a Zulu boy, born into dire poverty while also being infected with AIDS, who died at 12 year old.
As you may know, I am currently working towards a medical degree in osteopathic medicine. After completing my course work at the Des Moines University – College of Osteopathic Medicine, I have spent the last year or so doing medical rounds at hospitals around the United States, including Colorado, Texas, South Carolina, New York City, and presently in Philadelphia. Although the work has been challenging, I can’t tell you how much I have enjoyed it. I have been involved in procedures from putting in Foley Catheters to delivering babies. I am trying out just about all areas of medicine, and all of my experience and involvement is leading me towards a practice in pediatrics (although I haven’t decided for sure). So…I hope that I caught some of you up on what I have been doing and where I am headed.
I have chosen to take a leave of absence from medical school starting this August, and I will be doing eight months of volunteer work in Central and South America (Honduras and Bolivia), to do something I have always wanted to do. I have found programs in each country that are willing to take me as a student and include me in their communities. I am ecstatic about this opportunity and I wanted to let everyone know about my plans.
I will most likely be working with very poor, indigenous tribes and communities in these countries. I want to personally benefit from immersion into these cultures. It will be a once in a life time opportunity and I am so lucky as to do it for eight months. I hope to gain life experience, the ability to help people of all backgrounds and economic upbringings, social status and way of life. I also hope to expand my knowledge and medical experience that might not come from the general studies I am involved with, in the USA.
You have an open invitation to visit me wherever I will be living!!! I hope to see you soon.

The city where someone loves you...

Welcome to the greatest city in the world. The city where the girls smile at ya and the guys aren't trying to kill ya on the roads. The city where you can find a great cheese-steak, vegetarian vietnamese and korean bbq. It has culture, a china town, great bars, hot girls...What more can you ask for? Okay, now I am done giving props to my new city. I live in South Jersey, which is way cool. Bike trails, easy access to Philly, good food (I actually found a good Mexican restaurant, unlike NYC). I have just started General Medicine and so far it hasn't kicked my butt yet. Hopefully, it will kick it and hard...So I will learn alot. Come visit me in Cherry Hill we can get stoned and go to White Castle. I will be Harold, you can be Kumar.

A la Montauk

Today, Ben Levine, Zoe Bowick, Kerri Podlas and myself set off on a vast journey, to explore the unknown land that lies east of New York City. Now the three people listed above (not including me) have lived in NYC for the past 3 years or so and haven't really had too much time spent in Long Island and since I was only living there 2 months and had a car I thought I would give them the tour of the island. So we took off from Park Slope and on the Long Island Expressway I was sideswiped by a NYC taxi dude that just gave me the wave and said sorry charlie, so I followed him and hopefully the situation will rectify itself. Continuing on we made it to the famous lighthouse, build by George Washington himself. It was a great drive and a lot of fun to be spending it with such good friends. We then went to Sag Harbor, got some food in some random small town and drove and drove and drove. Southamptom was also very cool. On the way back we stopped and walked on the beach were I got soaked up to the knees on a crazy vindictive wave sent from G-D (why-o, why-o, why-o). So wearing clothes that have been in my car for who knows how long we kept on moving. I dropped Ben and Zoe off without any issues and then off to Manhattan where it contains the largest population of people who drive yet have no knowledge of this activity. And, I think I would of been killed at least 3 to 4 times if it wasn't for my Jedi reflexes and BUNS of steel. Then back to Far Far Far Rockaway to sleep and enjoy another week of Being Knee deep in GYN.

Rally Time

So this weekend on a whirlwind day adventure to Washington DC. I was able to see DC's Chinatown (I didn't know it even existed), a police motorcycle motorcade which lasted for about a half an hour, a high school marching band that went all over the city and last but not least was the rally I went to town for.
Free Muslims against Terrorism. Great idea, but it wasn't the turn out they were hoping for. Alot of good speakers, some outing others; just a great experience to be able to witness.
